No one knows for certain yet what the Galaxy S III will bring to the market, and we’re unlikely to find out until Samsung’s press event in London on May 3. But that hasn’t stopped masses of people from purchasing it already. In fact, the device is already the bestselling handset on Germany’s Amazon.de.
The device beat Samsung’s Galaxy S II and Galaxy Nexus handsets to the top spot with a price tag of €599 (approx. $786). Although the Korean company is yet to confirm the Galaxy S III’s specifications, Amazon.de is promising a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED display (not Super AMOLED Plus as rumored), a 12-megapixel camera, and 16GB of internal storage.
But how accurate is Amazon.de’s bestselling list? Well, like us, The Next Web figured that it was probably based on viewing figures alone. However, after digging a little deeper, it seems they are indeed made up of sales figures. The site states: “These lists, updated hourly, contain bestselling items.”
Samsung has done a great job of keeping a lid on the Galaxy S III prior to its launch, so we know very little about the device right now. We have seen leaks that claim to be the handset along with rumored specifications, but almost all of those up to this point have been largely debatable.
Germans clearly have a lot of faith in Samsung, then.
Would you purchase an $800 handset without even seeing it?
