Hulu made its debut at the upfronts week in New York City today, and it brought a lot of new original projects with it to show off.
As we noted earlier this week, Hulu was set to make its inaugural presentation at the annual ad week in New York City today. It was suspected that it might announce one or two new original projects, but it instead surprised with several, and with some big names attached as well.
First up was a new animated series from Saturday Night Live headwriter Seth Meyers and producer Michael Shoemaker about the behind-the-scenes life of a superhero team called The Awesomes. The series is expected to debut sometime next year. This was followed up with an announcement about Danny Leiner’s – the director of Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle – new series called We Got Next. The series will premiere later this year and follows the lives of a group of friends who play pickup games of baseball.
Moving beyond traditional shows, Hulu is planning a new series called Flow that will be built around the sport of parkour. We have absolutely no clue how you build a show around people leaping and jumping, but why not? The fourth series announced was Don’t Quit Your Daydream based on the 2010 documentary by Adrian Grenier from Entourage.
Hulu announced that in the last quarter alone it streamed over 2.5 billion videos, and from the sounds of it, it’s looking to make sure you stick around to stream a few more.
