Nintendo Confirms New Pikmin and Mario for Wii U at E3 2012

The possibility of the presence of a new Super Mario title for the Wii U during Nintendo’s E3 presentation this coming June was initially brought up yesterday in a Spanish interview with Shigeru Miyamoto, famed designer from Nintendo. It was there that Miyamoto explained that Nintendo would bring their famous plumber to the brand new system and show it off this summer.

Nintendo has officially confirmed the coming of both a brand new Mario title and a new Pikmin title for the Wii U. Even further, the company intends to show both games off during this year’s E3 presentation.

The confirmation comes from Kotaku and two separate responses from the Big N. They both start off the same way, so get ready for that. Here they are:

“In a recent interview, Mr. Miyamoto confirmed that a new Pikmin game will be shown at the E3 Expo in June. He believes that anyone who has played Pikmin games in the past will enjoy playing.”

“In a recent interview, Mr. Miyamoto confirmed that a new Super Mario Bros. game for the Wii U system will be shown at this year’s E3 Expo. This is based on the Mario experience that was demonstrated at last year’s E3 Expo. We’ll have more to announce about our plans for the E3 Expo at a later date.”

If you’re wondering what the new Mario experience was like at last year’s E3, I’ll give you a super, super quick rundown. It’s New Super Mario Bros. Wii with your Mii, the new controller and the ability to switch between TV and tablet display on the fly. I played the demo during the expo and was pleasantly surprised by the feel of the controller itself in connection to the game.

It’s actually really, really nice.

TechnoBuffalo will be at E3 this year. As Nintendo unveils the goods and gives us time to play, we’ll be sure to keep you updated.
