A developer recently revealed that Instagram has added 10 million new users in just 10 days, pushing its overall user base past 40 million people. That’s impressive growth and it’s no doubt a result of the hype around Facebook’s recent $1 billion acquisition of the company and the launch of its first Android client. The bump in Instagram’s user base was noticed by gramfeed creator Rakshith, TechCrunch┬ásaid, noting that valentinelbuti was the 40th millionth user to sign up for the service. The popular photo sharing social network now has more than 40,026,379 users, which reportedly represents about 5% of Facebook’s total subscribers. Instagram most recently became the most downloaded free application from Apple’s iTunes App Store, too.
