French designer Philippe Starck recently revealed that he has been working with Apple on a new “revolutionary” product that the company will announce within the next 8 months. Is it the next iPhone? Or maybe the company’s Siri-powered TV? Starck didn’t get into specifics, but we’re guessing it’s the latter.
“Indeed, there is a big project together which will be out in eight months,” Starck said in an interview with the radio show France Info. Starck said that he couldn’t discuss the product any more due to Apple’s “religious cult of secrecy.” The designer reportedly met with Apple’s late CEO Steve Jobs regularly before Jobs passed away.
The latest rumors suggest that Apple’s new iPhone will offer an industrial design that’s different than that of the current iPhone 4S and iPhone 4. It’s possible that Starck was involved in redesigning that project, although we’d be surprised if Apple waited another eight months before releasing the next iPhone. That’s why we’re placing our bets on Starck having a role in the Siri-powered Apple TV. After all, Apple’s senior vice president of industrial design allegedly has a 50-inch iTV in his office.
