Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch appears to be on pace to deliver a gorgeous set of animation alongside a charming and harrowing storyline. If the trailer above is any indication, this game could be wonderful. The cut-scenes stop and the gameplay kicks in at around the 1:30 mark.
Yes, Ni No Kuni looks like that in-game.
The trailer itself comes with a description on YouTube that summarizes the pitch of the game quite nicely:
Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, a heart-warming tale of a young boy named Oliver, who embarks on a journey into a parallel world in an attempt to bring his mother back from the dead. Along the way, Oliver makes new friends and adopts many of the wonderful creatures that inhabit the world, raising them to battle other creatures on his behalf as he takes on formidable enemies.
Speaking as a long-term fan of Studio Ghibli and Miyazaki’s films, this plot sounds like something the famous Japanese animation company would get behind.
Ready for the not-so-awesome news? Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch was originally slated to drop for the PlayStation 3 in North America before the end of 2012. Yesterday, Namco Bandai announced that the title will actually release in North America in Q1 of 2013.
