You’re a fan of Community, right? You know, the ridiculous comedy on NBC with folks like Joel McHale, Donald Glover and Chevy Chase? If you’re not actually a fan, or if you’ve never seen the show, find a way to right that wrong post haste. We’ll wait…
Nintendo sent over a note this morning in order to share the new ad campaign they’re starting with McHale. The Nintendo 3DS will see the star of Community try and go viral. Things get really subtle and subliminal as the commercial closes, but we’ll let you see it for yourselves in case you might be able to pick up on the consumer cues.
This is actually not the first time McHale has done work for the gaming industry. He was hired by Ubisoft to host their press conference at E3 two years running (the last of which being in the summer of 2010). He was hilarious then, too; albeit supremely scripted.
What do you think of Nintendo’s new campaign? The humor and tone seem out of character for Nintendo; but, from my point of view, it’s a great change of pace.
