Just days before Nokia’s Lumia 900 hits AT&T in the U.S., the handset — along with its little sibling, the Lumia 610 — has been given a SIM-free price for those in the U.K. from Clove Technology. This is the Finnish firm’s latest flagship smartphone, but it’s aimed at the budget conscious, starting at just $99 on AT&T in the States. So how does that translate into pounds?
Well, bearing in mind this price is for the SIM-free model, free from a carrier commitment, you can expect to pay £486 (approx. $772). It’s not exactly cheap, but it’s a little less than the price you’ll pay for the latest flagship devices running Android or iOS. For that you get a 4.3-inch ClearBlack AMOLED display, a 1.4GHz processor, 512MB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and an 8-megapixel camera.
The Lumia 610 will be available for £228 (approx. $362) SIM-free, making it the U.K.’s cheapest Windows Phone device. But there is a good reason for that: This is the first true ‘budget’ handset to feature the Windows Phone OS, and it packs a 3.7-inch display, an 800MHz processor, 8GB of storage, and only 256MB of RAM.
Clove hasn’t yet been given a release date, but you can pre-order both devices on its website now.
Will you be grabbing the Lumia 900 or Lumia 610 SIM-free?
