Google Inks Deal With Paramount To Bring 500+ Movies to Google Play, YouTube

Google announced on Wednesday that it had reached a deal with Paramount Pictures in which Paramount will provide over 500 movie titles to Google. Residents in the U.S. and Canada will be able to access the titles for rental through YouTube and Goole Play. This brings Google’s total number of rental partners to six. It already has partnerships with Disney, Warner Brothers, 20th Century Fox, Universal Pictures and Sony Pictures. “We now have five of the six major studios and over ten independent movie studios offering nearly 9,000 movies for rent to millions of people around the world,” YouTube Director of Content Partnerships, Malik Ducard said. “It’s still early days for us, and we’ll continue adding new titles and expanding our service to more countries this year.” Many of these films are available right now and Google plans on releasing the rest over the next few months. Rental terms and pricing may vary depending on your location.
