Top 10 Hottest Cars of the 2012 Geneva Auto Show

The 2012 Geneva Auto Show was a spectacle of beauty and excess within the wide world of cars. From enigmatic concepts to multi-million dollar exotics, the infamous Switzerland-based automobile buffet did not fail to impress. This is our round up of the top 10 hottest cars we saw on the show floor. Sit back and get your drool buckets out.

10. Fisker Karma

Fisker-Karma-1Set aside your thoughts on the company’s latest trials and tribulations with defunct batteries, or the fact that the Fisker Karma is the official Justin Bieber-mobile (we’re not sure which is worse). There’s something about that Tiger Shark front end that makes all the other electric vehicles cower in fear. The Fisker Karma was undoubtedly swankier in public, sporting advanced solar panels on its roof, a touchscreen LCD and all-digital gaugues on the interior. The best part is that this fiesty EV can reach up to 125MPH, a speed that will make Justin Bieber wet his pants and cry at the same time.

9. Mansory McLaren

Mansory-McLaren-MP4-12C-1We already know how appetizing the McLaren MP4-12C Super Car is to the average power junkie, but this one was Mansoried! Mansory is an automobile customization company that specializes in the blinging-up of exotic and high dollar vehicles. This McLaren recieved a hefty carbon fiber treatment along the back, including carbon fiber exhaust. Other upgrades included magnesium wheels, vented bodywork and a sport spoiler that made one of the more expensive performance machines worth an even higher insurance premium.

8. Lexus LF-LC

Lexus-LF-LC-1Concept cars bedazzled the Geneva show floor, but only a select few succeeded in tickling our fancies. The Lexus LF-LC is propelled by the company’s Advanced Lexus Hybrid Drive with the ponies concentrated at the rear wheel, but that’s about all the information available to the public at the present moment. Undoubtedly, the LF-LC’s exterior design stole the limelight, featuring a pronounced iteration of the Lexus spindle grill, swooping, aerodynamic lines and amorphous glass panels. If this car is ever produced, there should be a line around the block.

7. Infiniti Emerg-e Concept

Infiniti-Emerg-e-Concept-2While the Lexus LF-LC is certainly nice to look at, the Infiniti Emerg-e slaps its maroon facade with a mega one-up. For an electric vehicle that’s touted to offer 400HP and a 300 mile range, the Infiniti Emerg-e concept is all the hope we need in a land of drab hybrid and EV designs. With its Super Car geometry and fierce lines, the line for the Infiniti Emerge-e, should it ever be produced, will be twice as long as the LF-LC’s.

6. BMW i8

BMW-i8-Concept-4Then, just when we though we had seen the Grand Poo-Bah of the EV world, the BMW i8 reared its sexy hood. The car’s low profile, swooping gull wing doors and aggressive lines are borrowed from the hyper-sport world of exotic speed machines. Its specifications are equally enticing, featuring a modified electric drive system from the BMW i3 Concept – fitted over its front axle – with a high-performance three-cylinder combustion engine producing 220HP and 221 lb.-ft. of torque at the rear. That translates to a 0-62MPH time of under 5 seconds and a 94MPG estimate fuel consumption. The best news about the i8 is that BMW plans to bring it to the market in 2014.

5. Ferrari F12 Berlinetta

Ferrari-F12-Berlinetta-7Ferrari’s most powerful production model yet happened to be on the Geneva show floor this year, snarling and growling at innocent bystanders. Boasting a 740HP naturally aspirated V12, the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta spews 80% of its 509 lb.-ft. of torque to the rear wheels from a 2,500 RPM range all the way to redline. The F12 features a 76% increase in downforce figure compared to its predecessor, the Fiorano, along with a 154 lb. savings in weight. Check out those carvings along the sides of the car! Pure air flow, baby.

4. Lamborghini Aventador J

Lamborghini-Aventador-J-4The Lamborghini Aventador J is a case study in excess. This is a $2.8 million dollar Super Car without a windshield. Aside from its brooding 6.5-liter V12 engine that spews out 700HP, the Aventador J has a top speed of 186MPH, super-fast ISR transmission, permanent all-wheel drive and push-rod suspension. The Aventador J’s model name is a nod to the FIA World Motorsport Association, citing its “Appendix J Regulations,” which is a compilation of the required technical specifications of race cars in their particular classes. We think the “J” stands for “Just plain ridiculous.”

3. Koenigsegg Agera R

Koenigsegg-AgeraR-3The Koenigsegg Agera R was a beauty. The Super Car is one of the few production vehicles to output gobs of power to the tune of 1140HP and 885 lbs.-ft. of torque, yet treated the environment to a 5.0L V8 twin turbo Bio-fuel engine. Yes, 1140HP via Bio-fuel. Koenigsegg also manufactured hollow carbon fiber wheels for enhanced rotational mass weight savings and improved the overall aerodynamics of the car. Tasty!

2. Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse

Bugatti-Veyron-Grand-Sport-Vitesse-1The world’s fastest car is now the world’s fastest convertible. The Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse goes topless but does not shed any power while doing so. In fact, Bugatti claims that the Vitesse is the most powerful machine in the company’s history, spouting 1,200HP from an 8.0-liter, quad-turbocharged W16 borrowed from the Super Sport. But Bugatti says the Vitesse will be able to travel faster than the 267.81MPH coupe record set by the Super Sport. Oh, yeah, and the Vitesse is completely covered in glossy blue carbon fiber. Sometimes HP talk diverts us from the beauty that lies in front of us.

1. Pagani Huayra

Pagani-Huayra-7Yes, we saw a plethora of automobiles at the Geneva Auto Show, but when an Italian vehicle with a Mercedes-AMG 12-cylinder twin turbo powerplant capable of cranking out 700HP and 740 lb.-ft. of torque, wrapped entirely in carbon fiber is staring you down, you get weak in the knees and can’t form complete sentences. That’s exactly what happened to us the second we locked eyes to headlights with the Pagani Huayra. The dream car’s 230MPH top speed, leather bucket seats, polished aluminum trim, Ohlins performance suspension and touchscreen LCD further complicated our brainwave efficiencies. The Pagani Huayra was by far the star of the 2012 Geneva Auto Show.
