Name: Mark Hearn
Position: Mobile Editor
What I Do in the Herd
Cover the day to day happenings in the world of wireless. How do I do it? I eat, sleep and drink mobile technology! My daily routine consists of being joined at the hip with some type of notebook, while surfing through a sea of emails and news feeds for the latest breaking mobile news stories. I also spend countless hours running benchmarks and battery tests in an effort to provide the most sincere, detailed mobile product reviews possible.
Best Thing About Being In the Herd: Being a part of an industry that I truly love, and working with such an awesome group of creative people. Did I mention that I get paid to play with tech and work in my pajamas?
Where I Live and Work: Los Angeles, CA
When I’m Not Working I’m Into:
Spending time with my family, taking in movies, watching sports (Lakers, Packers and Dodgers), playing video games and trying to exercise. I’ve also been told that I’m a decent cook.
Computer of Choice: Old beat up Windows machines and Google’s CR-48. Currently in the process of switching to Mac.
Mobile Phone of Choice: iPhone 4S (32GB) and the Motorola PHOTON 4G. However, I’m really looking forward to giving Windows Phone a whirl.
Gaming System of Choice: Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and OnLive. I have no loyalty to gaming platforms; I just wanna play the best games possible!
Other Favorite Gadgets: Samsung Galaxy 10.1 Tab, PS Vita and the Logitech Revue (I love using its keyboard to control my media).
Random Tech Top 5 (phones I have owned and loved): Original T-Mobile Sidekick, Palm Treo 600, HTC EVO 4G, Motorola PHOTON 4G, the iPhone 4S.
Gadgets I’m Lusting After: 55-inch Samsung LED 8000 Series Smart TV, iPad (third-generation), and a Windows Phone made by Nokia.
Surfing The Interwebs
Favorite Web Sites: Slashfilm, ESPN, YouTube and MSN
Web Sites I Don’t Understand: Foursquare, I even have the mobile apps but never use them.
What I Did Before TechnoBuffalo: I ran a couple of homegrown tech blogs. Worked IT support for a few evil companies and played the role of a Personal Banker.
Worst Job Ever: When I was seventeen, I was a Sandwich Artist for Subway.
Best Job Ever (besides this one): Like Jon Rettinger and Todd Haselton, I worked for Hollywood Video in my high school years. I literally did nothing but rent free movies and Dreamcast games.
Random Things You Don’t Know About Me:
I didn’t own my first computer until the age of twenty and I’m a diehard wrestling fan. “It’s still real to me!”
A note from Jon Rettinger:
I know many of you were sad to see SprintFeed close up shop. Like many of you, I frequented the site for the latest news, rumors and reviews from the Now Network. As a fan of technology, and a cellphone geek myself, I give you all my word that TechnoBuffalo will focus on filling the gap SprintFeed is leaving. We will step up our Sprint coverage not only by Mark, but by the rest of staff. We are committed to bringing our unique take on news from Sprint, and welcome your feedback and suggestions.
