Apple’s new iPad may very well be the best tablet on the market. That is, according to Consumer Reports’ brand new tablet ratings list, which was released on Monday. The consumer reviews group said that the new iPad’s performance was “superb in virtually every [way],” ranging from its color accuracy to its 5-megapixel camera and “dependable” 4G connection.

The company so confirmed that we already knew: that the new iPad 3 runs hotter than the original iPad 2, but found that those temperatures should be of no concern to consumers. It also said that it recommends the Pantech Element for beachgoers this summer, due to its waterproof features and solid battery life, as well as the Sony Tablet P, which offers two 5-inch screens.

Consumer Reports was so impressed by the new iPad’s Retina display that the firm has decided to recalibrate its procedures for testing new tablets. However, it did note that consumers may be put-off while viewing content that was designed for lower-resolution screens.
