Quest Google Maps in Glorious 8-Bit Style

April Fool’s joke? A whole day early? This is practically blasphemy! It is clear, then, that Google Maps 8-bit is completely, totally, honestly legitimate.*

Watch the video above and you’ll catch a glimpse of one of Google’s newest services. Players Internet users can head to Google Maps, select the Quest button and cruise the full circumference of the globe as a tiny 8-bit hero. You can even hop into street level viewing to enjoy a pixelated mess of an experience.

I absolutely love that the video used the original Famicom, complete with cartridge blowing goodness, as a prop. And, yes, Famicom controllers did have microphones used by early games.

*And by that we mean completely illegitimate.
