Google Maps Updated With Live Traffic Information

Time in Traffic Transit

Jumping in the car for a boondoggle this weekend? You may want to check out Google’s updated Maps interface. Google announced recently that it has added live traffic updates, which provides current traffic conditions in certain areas, to Google Maps. As usual, Maps will still provide the estimated time for your trip, but it will also provide an estimated time taking the real-time traffic into consideration. A trip from Penn Station to JFK, for example, might take 29 minutes without traffic but on a congested traffic day Google Maps might alert you that it will take actually 44 minutes. In such conditions, you might want to consider taking the train out to the airport, which only takes 39 minutes. We all know every second counts when you’re trying to catch a flight!

Google says you can help improve the traffic data by using the My Location feature in Google Maps for Android, which can determine your speed and road conditions.
