Terra Nova

Bad news for fans of Terra Nova; Netflix will not be stepping into save the show after all.

It was reported earlier this month that Netflix was in talks with Fox Television to save the cancelled sci-fi series, Terra Nova.  According to Deadline, after two weeks of discussions, it appears that the series won’t be appearing on Watch Instantly now, and the future, if any, for the series is uncertain.

While we’re sorry for the fans of the show, it’s interesting to those of us in the tech sphere because it shows us that Netflix does potentially have a limit to what it will spend on content.  Terra Nova was mainly canceled due to its sky high production costs, so it was a bit shocked to everyone when it was revealed Netflix was even considering stepping in to save this series.

There are still rumors that the company may step in to save The River, which has much lower production costs, but this may be the season where we get at least some inkling of where Netflix is heading with its original content strategy.
