Revamped Apple TV Interface Was Reportedly Axed By Steve Jobs 5 Years Ago

Apple TV 2012Five years ago, Steve Jobs apparently did not approve of Apple’s recently revamped Apple TV interface designs. According to former Apple TV engineer Michael Margolis, Jobs “tossed out [the new designs] 5 years ago because [he] didn’t like them.” The Cupertino company unveiled its newest set-top box earlier this month with full 1080p video support and an updated interface that displays icon-based category buttons and large billboard-style artwork. Margolis added, “Now there is nobody to say ‘no’ to bad design,” referring to Jobs’ passing, MacRumors said. The latest Apple TV interface has elicited both favorable and unfavorable reactions from fans, with the latter arguing the design is a step backwards. If Margolis’ comments are true, the “update” is actually something that was axed by Jobs a long time ago.
