TweetDeck for Desktops Gets a Stack of New Features in Latest Update [Video]

Thanks to a job listing on TweetDeck’s website, we know the company is hard at work on building its “next generation” of Android applications. But it hasn’t forgotten about TweetDeck for desktops. In fact, a new version has been released today that brings a stack of new features to the Twitter client for Mac and PC.

The company also released a new video, which you can see above, that walks you through those features new to TweetDeck version 1.3. They include the ability to create and manage lists; a new ‘Interactions’ column that lets you monitor your mentions and alerts for things like retweets and favorites; and inline image previews.

In addition to this, version 1.3 also provides new picture upload services, and the “Edit & RT” retweet method, which allows you to add your own text to another user’s tweets before retweeting them to your own followers.

A number of these features are already built into Twitter’s official desktop clients, and they’re sure to please the TweetDeck faithful, many of whom were disappointed by the app’s last major release, which stripped out a number of popular features. Some of those, such as LinkedIn support, are still missing, however.

The latest version of TweetDeck is available from the Mac App Store if you’re running OS X, but if you’re a Windows user all you need to do is restart the application. Alternatively, you can access the TweetDeck web app using Google’s Chrome browser on either operating system.

What do you think of TweetDeck’s new features?
