Samsung Galaxy Note Android 4.0 ICS Update Won’t Land Until Q2, but Bonus Apps Promised

Samsung Galaxy Note on AT&T

Samsung confirmed in a statement recently that the Galaxy Note won’t receive its Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update until the second quarter of this year, a bit later than originally anticipated. However, the South Korea-based phone make had a bit of good news to share. The ICS update will include several new S-Pen ready applications, including Shape match, Formula Match and My Story.

Shape Match and Forumla Match help “correct and digitize geometric shapes and even solve numeric formulas hand-drawn with the S-Pen,” Samsung explained. Sounds like something I could have used to get through algebra in high school. My Story lets users create cards using videos, photos, text, voice messages and notes. Galaxy Note owners will also get an exclusive level in Rovio’s brand new Angry Birds Space game, as well as 30-additional levels if the package is downloaded within 30 days of its release.

Samsung’s ICS upgrade will include Face Unlock, Snapshot and other standard Android 4.0 features. The company said the exact date of the roll-out will depend on a user’s location and carrier.
