Microsoft revealed on Wednesday that its Windows Phone Marketplace is now home to 70,000 applications. The company also confirmed that about 300 new apps are added daily. Microsoft’s head of Greater China confirmed the figures during the official Windows Phone launch in China earlier Wednesday. Microsoft also said it plans to expand its Marketplace to 28 new markets this year, for a total of 63 global markets. Both Apple’s iTunes App Store and Google’s Android Market are home to hundreds of thousands of applications, which means the Windows Phone Marketplace still has plenty of room to grow. Still, it’s much younger than the other app store so we’re impressed nonetheless.
