Having been acquired by Twitter back in May 2011, the TweetDeck application for both mobile and PC has been left almost untouched. You’d be forgiven for thinking that the company was giving up on the client. But according to a recent job listing, it’s about to develop the “next generation” of TweetDeck for Android.
Twitter is looking for a software engineer based in London who will join the TweetDeck and help build a new client for Android. The job description reads:
The TweetDeck team, working from London, is looking for new team members to work on our cutting edge Android app. We’re building the next generation of a suite of clients that millions of people love and use everyday. You’ll work on our small team, own the projects that you work on, and have a great time shipping products which change the way people communicate.
TweetDeck was once a hugely popular client for Twitter power users, who wanted a deeper experience and more features than those offered by official Twitter client. However, without any major updates in recent months, TweetDeck has been a little neglected, and it lost a lot of its appeal for a large number of users.
But thankfully, it seems TweetDeck is not dead. And Twitter is hard at work on a next-generation client that could (we hope!) restore the love we once had for the app.
While this job listing only talks about TweetDeck for Android, we’re assuming that the iOS and desktop TweetDeck clients will also get some much-needed attention.
Are you looking forward to the “next generation” of TweetDeck?
