We woke up at the crack of dawn this morning to head down to Apple’s 5th Avenue Store in New York City to bring you photos of the line and the first customers leaving the store with their brand new iPad. It’s a rainy day today, and so many of the line-waiters were toting umbrellas and looking a little soaked, but that didn’t seem to put much of a damper on the atmosphere — even though the line stretched way back to Madison Avenue!
Everyone was full of smiles and a ton of press showed up for the event. We saw cameras for ABC, CNN, Bloomberg and a few international stations, too. At 8:00 a.m. sharp Apple opened up the doors, employees lined up clapping and the first line waiters descended into the store to buy their new iPads. Please pardon some of the blurry photos, as we were getting knocked around left and right trying to snap a few photos from the front.
Enjoy the gallery below, including a few shots of the first two gentlemen to leave the store with their iPads. Unfortunately, they were quickly whisked away by Bloomberg for an interview before we could speak with them!
Oh, and be sure to check out our unboxing if you missed it!
