Corporate America Speaks, Chooses iPad 10-to-1 Over Nearest Competitor

iPad 2 for businessesApple’s iPad is the overwhelming favorite for businesses. Data collected by ChangeWave Research revealed that 84% of the 1,604 IT buyers surveyed last month said they intended on going with the iPad – that’s more than ten times the nearest competitor. And businesses aren’t the only ones pining over the iPad, either.

According to PCWorld, ChangeWave has never seen the iPad’s share of future business purchases fall below 77%. In comparison, tablets from competing manufacturers dropped across the board in the most recent survey. For example, Samsung was the choice of 8% of buyers, while the Amazon Kindle Fire was the choice of 6%. Research In Motion was close to last with only 3%.

The release of the new iPad is likely to pull Apple ahead even more. “The impending release of the new iPad is also having an impact on business purchases of tablets made by other manufacturers,” ChangeWave said in a blogpost. In addition, Apple has dropped the price of the iPad 2 by $100, with the 16GB Wi-Fi-only coming in at just $399.

ChangeWave previously noted the iPad has remained dominate because of the device’s high satisfaction ranking. In a November 2011 survey, 3/4 of iPad owners admitted they were “Very Satisfied” with the device. The highest ranking competing tablet came in at 25 points less.
