We already saw signs that pretty much confirmed Apple was going to sell the new iPad at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, but the company released a press release Wednesday that locks that time in stone. If you’re worried about lines, don’t forget that the new iPad can be purchased from Best Buy, Target, Walmart, Radio Shack and Sam’s Club, although we imagine those stores have incredibly limited quantities.

Apple also said that the new iPad will be available on Friday in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Switzerland and the UK; along with Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. On March 23rd, the iPad will launch in additional markets, including in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Macau, Mexico, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden.
