Sony Xperia ‘Pepper’ to Offer NFC Support

Xperia Pepper

An advertisement for the Sony Xperia Pepper seems to confirm that the device will indeed include support for near-field communications (NFC). Little is known about the Xperia Pepper, which was first leaked ahead of Mobile World Congress, other than that it is expected to pack a 1Ghz dual-core processor, a 3.7-inch WVGA display and 512MB of RAM. We also wouldn’t be surprised if Sony launched the Pepper with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in tow. So what exactly gives away the NFC support? Those little tags next to the phone are known as Sony’s “Smart Tags,” which are NFC-enabled. Hopefully we’ll hear more about the Xperia Pepper in the coming weeks and months.
