Samsung Might Announce 11.6-inch Galaxy Tab With 2560 x 1600 Display Tomorrow

Galaxy Tab 10.1 2

Samsung issued a press release on Thursday morning in which it said that it was planning on making a special announcement during the SXSW festival/trade show on Friday. It remains unknown what Samsung has up its sleeves, but Pocket-Lint believes that the South Korea-based company will unveil its highly rumored 11.6-inch tablet. The device is said to offer a quad-core processor and a display with an incredible 2560 x 1600-pixel resolution. Yes, that’s sharper than the 2048 x 1536 Retina Display screen that was just unveiled on the new iPad yesterday. For now we’re writing this off as pure speculation, since we have yet to see a major product announcement made at SXSW. Samsung would do better to unveil the device at an event where much more mobile press are present, such as the CTIA trade show in New Orleans in May. We’ll see, though. Tech is always full of surprises, right?

UPDATE: Well, that was short lived. Samsung has confirmed with TechnoBuffalo that it has no knowledge of plans to announce such a tablet tomorrow.
