Archos G9 series Ice Cream SandwichYour Archos G9 tablet series has been looking down in the dumps, so why not liven things up with Ice Cream Sandwich? The company announced on Thursday an over-the-air (OTA) update will begin rolling out immediately to G9 owners worldwide. Users simply need only look for a notification “A” in the lower right hand corner of their device. Click download and enjoy the latest and greatest from Google.

In case you weren’t aware, Ice Cream Sandwich brings faster web browsing, easy multitasking, rich notifications, customizable home screens, etc, etc. But what’s unique about Archos’ ICS update is its support for full 1080p with most video codecs, the automatic download of movie and TV show descriptions, wireless content sharing and 3D video support for MKV3D files.

If Archos can update to Android 4.0, hopefully more companies like Motorola and Samsung can start rolling out updates of its own. The sooner, the better.
