In news that is completely unrelated to Apple, EA released a brand new trailer for Medal of Honor: Warfighter yesterday. The title was officially announced by EA towards the end of February, but now gamers can put some assets to the name.
While the trailer doesn’t do much for gameplay footage, it does give us a glimpse at what to expect from this recently relaunched brand. Medal of Honor saw the light of day a few years back when it was given a fresh coat of paint and a new, special forces perspective. That direction seems to still be in place, though we assume EA is hoping for more critical and commercial success for this follow-up.
It’s worth noting that Medal of Honor: Warfighter will be powered by the Frostbite 2 engine. DICE used the same tool-set to bring Battlefield 3 to life, and a lot of gamers earmark that title as a recent standard for gaming graphics on the PC platform.
Between Medal of Honor and Battlefield, it looks like EA is joining Activision and releasing a new, military FPS on a yearly basis. Will they enjoy the same success as the Call of Duty line? Probably not. But it looks like they’re trying to grab a slice of the market.
Medal of Honor: Warfighter is currently set to ship for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC platforms on October 23rd, 2012. Are you interested?
