There’s seems to be quite a bit of momentum building in anticipation of Microsoft’s Windows Phone update, and it looks like carriers are really starting to take notice. A report from Monday claimed Verizon was in talks to receive a Nokia-branded Windows Phone 8 (otherwise known as Apollo) device later this year, and it looks like AT&T may get in on the action as well. In fact, AT&T will reportedly receive two Apollo-equipped handsets from Nokia, the Prodigy and AC/DC.
The Prodigy is reportedly expected to be a “super phone,” while the AC/DC is positioned to fall in the mid-range market – perhaps somewhere in line with its musical namesake. There’s been no mention of other carriers receiving these two devices, so for now we expect these to hit AT&T later this year.
While no specs or solid details have been shared, just hearing the prospect of Apollo’s arrival is enough to get us salivating. When the OS hits, Apollo is promising to introduce multi-core processor support, four screen resolutions and NFC. Hopefully we’ll hear more about these two devices soon.
