Ice Cream Sandwich’s New Camera App Now Available to Download For All Android Handsets

Camera ICS app

One of the many improvements to Google’s latest Ice Cream Sandwich operating system is a new camera application that offers all sorts of fancy features that weren’t a part of previous Android releases. But you no longer need to wait for the Ice Cream Sandwich update to hit your device to get your hands on them.

One developer has repackaged the application and made it available in the Android Market under the “Camera ICS” name. It’s available for almost any Android handset that features a camera, regardless of the operating system.

While it doesn’t quite offer all of the features you’d get from some third-party camera apps, it does include all of the features you get from the stock app built-in to Ice Cream Sandwich, including panorama mode, better zoom and flash controls, and simply switching between camera and camcorder.

There are two versions of the application available to download; one of which is free and ad-supported, while the other costs $0.99 but won’t bother you with adverts.

Reviews in the Android Market have so far been mixed, so we’d suggest trying to ad-supported version before jumping straight into the $0.99 release. And once you’ve tried Camera ICS, be sure to let us know what you think of it.
