Assassin’s Creed III Gets Debut Trailer

Assassin’s Creed III, after all the rumors and speculation, finally has a formal trailer and release date. Catch the video above.

The game features a brand new engine, according to the release sent around by Ubisoft. The engine itself is called Ubisoft-AnvilNext and will feature upgrades to the game’s graphics on all fronts. The trailer above does not feature any shots of that new engine in action; instead, it’s full CGI.

Ubisoft also included this plot line tidbit for the upcoming protagonist and a little of his story:

Set against the backdrop of the American Revolution in the late 18th century, Assassin’s Creed III introduces a new hero, Ratohnaké:ton, of Native American and English heritage. Adopting the name Connor, he becomes the new voice for justice in the ancient war between the Assassins and Templars. Players become an Assassin in the war for liberty against ruthless tyranny in the most stylized and fluid combat experiences in the franchise to date. Assassin’s Creed III spans the Revolutionary War, taking gamers from the vibrant, untamed frontier to bustling colonial towns and the intense, chaotic battlefields where George Washington’s Continental Army clashed with the imposing British Army.

Assassin’s Creed III is set to launch for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC on October 30th, 2012. It’s also set to launch for the Nintendo Wii U.
