Galaxy S II US family

At least one official date has finally been stated for an Ice Cream Sandich update for Galaxy S II devices: March 15.

Samsung Israel today posted on its official Facebook page that an an Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Galaxy S II was coming later this month. The translation, according to Android Central, roughly translates to:

We promised we were working on it. You waited patiently. And on 15 March it’ll arrive: Android version 4, ICS, to tens of thousands of GALAXY S II devices purchased from cellular companies in the country or directly from us. We are very excited for the launch, hope you are too 🙂

This is the first official date given to an ICS update for any Galaxy S II devices, but it does not mean that it will be the same in all regions.  Hardware on the U.S. version of the devices does differ, so there is a good chance that there will still be a delay stateside to the update happening.

At least there is finally hope on the horizon for these updates to be rolling out officially, now lets just cross our fingers it doesn’t take much longer.
