UPDATE: Another leaked image from another source has popped up that further confirms the going theory for AC3‘s locale and protagonist. Check it here.
Original Story: This bit of rumor marks the most recent in a string linking Ubisoft’s next story in the Assassin’s Creed line to the rough era of the American Revolution. Thanks to one employee at Best Buy, the source, and the reporting of Kotaku, we have the image you see on the right.
If you’d like to see a much, much bigger version of that image, check the base of this article.
This anonymous Best Buy employee supposedly snapped the shot you see and sent it to Kotaku along with news that Ubisoft would reveal the title on March 5th. The reveal from Ubisoft will also apparently come with a slew of pre-order offers…because who didn’t see that news coming from 3,000,000 miles away?
Kotaku also points towards the evidence in the picture to glean that our new hero is Native American and that this goes down in the 18th century in front of the American Continental flag.
We first sniffed out word that this game may be set in the approximate era of the Revolutionary War from CVG towards the end of this past January. They claimed to have heard from sources close to the project that we’d see action from the 18th century. This picture clearly further verifies that claim.
As more comes for Assassin’s Creed III, including the potential announcement from Ubisoft on March 5th (next Monday), we’ll be on it.
