With over half a million applications in the iOS App Store currently vying for consumer attention, Adobe’s new Photoshop Touch for the iPad 2 will be looking to top the charts. Users familiar with the Photoshop setup will feel right at home, as many core features are in tact while a new set of capabilities have been added exclusively for tablets. The app was previously available on Android.
For $9.99, Photoshop Touch lets users layer, touch up and paint to their hearts content, all with the simple swipe of a finger. There’s also a Scribble Selection Tool for object removal in photos, Google Image search integration and quick Facebook sharing. In addition, Refine Edge technology will be in play for capturing those hard-to-select soft edge areas.
“Adobe Photoshop Touch offers a huge convenience factor and boasts cool Photoshop features tailored for the iPad,” said Brian Yap, creative director, Boxing Clever. “Nearly all of the features I imagined being in Photoshop Touch are there, including the depth in layers, the extraction tools, and fade tool.”
Adobe is looking to supplement Photoshop Touch with a host of other apps later this year: Adobe Collage, Adobe Debut, Adobe Ideas, Adobe Kuler and Adobe Proto. You can get Photoshop Touch now in the iTunes App Store.
