Why wait until Monday’s Mobile World Congress when you can make a runway appearance at Milan’s Fashion Week? That was apparently Acer’s train of thought, as the company made the trip to Italy to show off its CloudMobile smartphone. And what a perfect place to do it. Acer’s device was previously granted an iF award in recognition of outstanding achievement in design for 2012.
While that’s all well and good, the device’s internals still largely remained a mystery… until now. A report from BGR claims the Acer CloudMobile will come equipped with an untouched version of Android 4.1, 4.3-inch (1280 x 720) HD display, 1.5GH dual-core processor, NFC and 8-megapixel camera. In addition, the handset will be the first to take advantage of AcerCloud technology for “seamless document management.”
Strangely, Acer decided to design the device with capacitive buttons even though the below picture clearly shows Ice Cream Sandwich’s onscreen buttons are there. What’s up with that? One would expect that, since the device has yet to hit consumer hands, this little oversight will be dealt with accordingly. For the record, I realized ICS button simply hide when not in use, but it’s still strange physical buttons are included. Unless Acer wants to give CloudMobile owners access to seven navigational buttons.
