PS Vita In Hand

If you’ve been thinking about buying a PlayStation Vita, Sony’s portable follow-up to the PSP, you can officially do so at retail today. The system has launched.

You can snag the Wi-Fi only handheld in a standalone package for the MSRP of $249.99. Alternatively, you can buy the Wi-Fi/3G flavor of the experience for $299.99. Neither retail bundle comes with games or memory for storage, so you’ll need to pick those up as well in order to secure your portable good time.

While you’re at it, you may as well take advantage of some of the current sales. GameStop and Target are both offering a Buy 2, Get 1 Free deal for PS Vita games. Amazon has the same deal going, but they have a lightly wider selection of software to choose from. Our picks? You can’t go wrong with Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Wipeout 2048, Touch My Katamari, Rayman Origins and Lumines Electronic Symphony.

Will you be getting a PS Vita over the next few days? If so, what version are you picking and which games will you buy?
