The video above consists of more than five minutes worth of gameplay from Far Cry 3. It’s not a straight sequence, so expect several jump-cuts between moments of action and inaction as the clip wears on.
I counted myself among the crowd that genuinely enjoyed Far Cry 2. The game absolutely had its share of problems, like the obnoxious travelling and constant nagging of the malaria virus, but it was genuinely a great single player adventure. The living world it presented felt wonderful, and the firefight mechanics were done exceptionally well.
If Far Cry 3 can take the best bits of the second game, add in better elements of storytelling, less nagging necessities and a strong way to move about the undoubtedly massive landscape, it could be one of the best titles coming in 2012.
Far Cry 3 is currently set to release for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC platforms on September 4th, 2012 in North America. Europe will see the game drop on the same platforms two days later on September 6th.
