iPhone 4S to Launch with China Telecom March 9th

iPhone 4S ChinaChina Telecom confirmed on Tuesday that it will offer Apple’s iPhone 4S beginning on March 9th. Pre-orders for the phone will begin on March 2nd.

“We are really happy to offer the amazing new iPhone 4S,” said Mr. Yang Xiaowei, executive vice president of China Telecom. “We believe iPhone 4S on  China Telecom’s advanced 3G network will create great excitement among our customers.”

China Telecom is the second wireless carrier to offer Apple’s popular iPhone 4S. China Unicom was the original partner for the phone. The 16GB iPhone 4 will start at about $253 while the 32GB will cost about $396 and the 64GB model will cost $539 with a new two-year contract. The prices drop considerably with a 36-month agreement. Apple’s latest agreement will help the company further tap into China’s bourgeoning mobile phone market, even though the Cupertino-based firm recently lost market share to local phone manufacturers such as ZTE and Huawei.

China Telecom to Offer iPhone 4S in China on March 9

BEIJING – February 21, 2012 – China Telecom today announced it will offer  iPhone 4S to customers in China beginning Friday, March 9. iPhone 4S will be available starting at RMB 0 for the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models on select contracts in China Telecom’s authorized stores and online at www.189.cn.

Online reservations will be available beginning Friday, March 2.
