Apple’s iPad 3 will definitely offer a Retina Display with a sharp 2048 x 1536 resolution, MacRumors reported on Wednesday. The website says it has obtained one of the displays that will be used in the next generation tablet and that it compared the new screen with the one currently available on the iPad 2 under a microscope. MacRumors explained that the pixels on the iPad 3 display appear to be “one-quarter the size of those on the iPad 2,” which means it should offer a resolution that’s twice that of the 1024 x 768 screens on the iPad and iPad 2. Apple is expected to launch the iPad 3 during a press event on March 7th and other rumors have suggested it may be powered by a quad-core processor and offer support for LTE networks, too.
