Over Super Bowl weekend I had the opportunity to hang out with Lexus and check out the new 2013 Lexus GS as well as Lexus’ flasgship supercar, the LFA. Production of the LFA is limited to a mere 500 units, all of which are hand-assembled, with no more than 20 cars being assembled each month.
The rear-wheel driven LFA is “a dynamically styled supercar powered by a sophisticated new high- revving 4.8-liter V10 engine that generates 553 hp (412kW/560DIN hp) and 354 lb-ft (480Nm) of torque for adrenaline-fuelled 202 mph (325km/h) performance. This specially-developed powerplant is hooked up to a unique six-speed Automated Sequential Gearbox (ASG) with paddle shifters for ultimate driver control. Linked by a rigid torque tube for excellent drivetrain integrity, the ASG is located in a transaxle layout over the rear axle for an optimal 48:52 front-to-rear weight distribution.”
The car is certainly something to behold, and something to ride in. Pro Driver Scott Pruett took me out on the track in Las Vegas to check it out. Watch us get up to 120mph in the video above, and check out some pics of the LFA in the gallery below!
