Facebook Launches Much Needed Windows Phone Update

Facebook for Windows Phone

Facebook for Windows Phone isn’t nearly as robust as it is on Android or the iPhone; scrolling can be a mess and it is not nearly as easy to access all of Facebook’s mobile features. Thankfully, the social network announced on Tuesday that it is launching a much needed update to the application, which we’re loving so far. The changes in version 2.3 include:

  • News feed performance improvements
  • New panorama design
  • New profile design
  • Banner images
  • Improved navigation
  • Pages
  • Groups
  • View “likes”
  • Feed filters
  • Posting privacy
  • Bug fixes

When we went to install the latest version of Facebook it said that a new version wasn’t available, so we uninstalled the app and then installed version 2.3 from the Marketplace. The UI is much, much better than before. If you choose to allow it, the application can now display your personal images at the top of the Facebook app screen at all times, which is a unique feature that isn’t available on any other mobile platform. We also love that the homescreen makes it easy to quickly check-in to a location or snap and upload a photo. Overall, this update is definitely one that any Facebook user on Windows Phone will want to install.
