RIP White Macbook: Apple Discontinues the Pale-Colored Laptop

by Emily Price | February 9, 2012February 9, 2012 10:30 am PST

Apple has officially pulled the plug on the white MacBook. Apple stopped selling the white laptop through retail channels in the middle of 2011. The $999 computer was replaced by the 11-inch MacBook Air as Apple’s entry-level laptop, however, the computer was still made available after the retail phase-out to educational institutions.

According to MacRumors, Apple has indicated that the white Macbook has reached “End of Life” status, and does not intend to make any more of the computers.

The MacBook originally launched in 2006. The computer was briefly sold with an aluminum casing in 2008, but was replaced with a unibody polycarbonate design in 2009 that continued until today.
