New Apple operator profiles discovered by YourDailyMac suggest iOS 5.1 is in the pipeline for a March 9 release. Could this coincide with an iPad 3 launch? All the latest signs have been pointing to a March timeframe.
The newly uncovered files were intended for overseas iPhone-operators, including Japan, France, Greece, Finland and Sweden. The reason profiles are updated is to ensure network connections will work when an update is pushed out. In this case, iOS 5.1 will be available for the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod Touch 3G/4G, iPad and iPad 2, YourDailyMac said.
With all the rumors coming from sources in supply chains and whatnot, this may just be the most significant piece of evidence yet of when the iPad 3 is going to hit, or at the very least be revealed. March 9 falls on a Friday, the week after Mobile World Congress ends. That would give Apple the perfect opportunity to steal thunder away from any announcements made at that event.
