Apple has announced that it has appointed John Browett as its new Senior Vice President of Retail.
In a press release sent out this morning, Apple announced that the new head of its retail division, John Browett, was joining it from U.K. electronics retailer Dixons where he had served as the CEO since 2007. Prior to his time at Dixons, Browett also served as the CEO of Tesco.com, the online arm of one of the largest retailers in the U.K.
“Our retail stores are all about customer service, and John shares that commitment like no one else we’ve met,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “We are thrilled to have him join our team and bring his incredible retail experience to Apple.”
Browett will be replacing Ron Johnson who stepped down in November to become the CEO of JC Penny. He left behind some mighty big shoes to fill as in the latest quarterly report from Apple had the retail stores at a $17.1 million average per store, compared to $12 million per store from the same quarter last year, a 43 percent increase from the same quarter last year.
