Verizon Launching Family Data Plans Soon?

Rumor has it that Verizon may soon be offering family plans for data, allowing you to share one data plan across several different devices and people.

Verizon has previously indicated that it would be offering shared data plans in 2012. CEO Lowell McAdam said at the end of 2011 “I think in 2012 we will see it…Getting to one bill and getting to account-level pricing is our goal.”

Engadget got it hands on some internal training documents for the carrier that looks like the company will be reaching that goal soon. According to the documents, shared plans would have an additional $9.99 service fee.

Currently devices on family plans are required to have their own separate data plans. Shared data plans could be huge for people who have multiple devices, and even with the fee could potentially lead to a good deal of savings for those with their entire family on the same mobile bill. AT&T is also rumored to be announcing shared data in 2012.
