The Witcher 2 for Xbox 360 has New, Glorious Intro (Video)

Fair warning: The clip above is both gory and epically violent. If you’re somewhere that wouldn’t like either of those things playing on your computer, then save this one for when you’re in a better location. Otherwise, enjoy.

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings was released on the PC platform back in May of last year. CD Projeckt RED, the studio helming the game, are set to release the Xbox 360 iteration this spring. Part of that “adaptation,” as they’re calling it, is a new CGI introduction.

The intro is what you see above. It was done, according to the video’s description on YouTube, by Oscar nominated animator Tomasz Baginski.

When The Witcher 2 released last year, it was received exceptionally well by both critics and fans. It was built on a principle of an open, personal gameplay with an emphasis on plot. The Enhanced Edition, which is what the Xbox 360 version is, will launch for both PC and 360 platforms. If you already on the PC edition of the game, you’ll get the enhancements for free on April 17th of this year.

The title has since been swept away a bit by Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. However, most PC gamers will assert that those Xbox 360 owners that will soon have a chance to pick this title up once it launches absolutely should. In fact, I’ve had something to the same effect screamed at me recently by a close friend.

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings will launch for the Xbox 360 on April 17th, 2012.
