The Darkness II Gets a Launch Trailer

The Darkness II, the direct sequel to the original game from 2007 based on the Top Cow comic series, is almost upon us. Developed by Digital Extremes and being published by 2K Games, the story picks up just a bit after where the first left off. If you played The Darkness, you’ll notice the sequel’s nods to that plot immediately.

Enjoy the launch trailer above.

While the trailer is definitely a pretty one, it doesn’t really show off the style of the game that well. The Darkness II, between the press showings and the demo that’s currently available to the public, packs a more vivid, colorful and comic-like style than what’s shown in the video above. During press events, in fact, I personally remember the developers calling it “graphic noir.”

Here’s some gameplay footage that I think demonstrates the real look of the game a bit better. Be warned, it’s a bit…graphic.

As the trailer indicates, The Darkness II will launch on February 7th. That’s less than two weeks away. The game will be available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC platforms.
