Just about the only thing that hasn’t been revealed about the Droid 4 is a proper release date. While that information is still being kept under wraps, it looks like we won’t have to wait much longer. Verizon on Monday tacked on a hefty discount ($99 with two-year contract) to last year’s QWERTY keyboard-toting Droid 3, leading us to believe inventory is being cleared for its successor.
In a market dominated by touchscreen-only devices, smartphones with keyboards are fast becoming a thing of the past. TechnoBuffalo got an exclusive hands-on with a Droid 4 demo unit late December, giving us a better idea of how the upcoming device will look and feel compared to other top smartphone options. Unfortunately, since it didn’t work, we’re not 100% sure how it’ll stack up against the competition. From a specs standpoint, though, the device certainly looks like it can hold its own.
With the Droid Maxx hitting at the end of this month, Lumia 900 set for March and the HTC Titan II coming in the next few months, can the Droid 4 reach a large enough slice of the market? We’ll have to wait and see once the device launches.
