Minecraft Breaks 20 Million Users

Minecraft.net has now registered more than 20,000,000 users. In fact, as of writing this story, exactly 20,142,461 people have registered.

In announcing the news that Minecraft broke 20,000,000 registered users, Markus “Notch” Persson also included a random fact we assume he snagged from Wolfram Alpha:

Minecraft now has 20 million registered users. At 70 kg each, that’s 25% of the weight of the Great Pyramid of Giza.

Notch went further to indicate that less than a quarter of all of those registered users have purchased the game. Again, he did so with a nice measure of hilarity:

23.23% also bought the game. Extrapolating, we find that 76.77% of the internet will register for things they don’t want.

At this point, we find ourselves wishing that Minecraft.net kept track of all online stats and play. Yes, we know, this would be a bit of a large task for the site given the amount of multiplayer servers out there in the world; but, can you imagine an in-depth listing of the blocks that have been placed, the zombies that have been killed or the dungeons that have been found? We want this information.

“Why?” you ask… Why not? Congratulations to the Mojang team.
