AT&T announced on Thursday the carrier is flipping the 4G LTE switch in 11 new markets across the U.S., including the New York City metro area, San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego. For HTC Vivid, Galaxy S II Skyrocket and LG Nitro owners, this is fantastic news.
“We’re building a 4G LTE network that’s blazing fast, and we offer dual layers of 4G technologies to provide customers with a more consistent speed experience,” said Stankey. “Our network, together with our unsurpassed 4G device portfolio and innovative applications, will give our customers an industry-leading mobile broadband experience.”
Early last month we got an unnofficial glimpse of AT&T’s LTE network as the carrier conducted live tests here in Orange County. AT&T’s expanded LTE availability brings its total to 26 markets, covering 74 million customers.
The entire list of new coverage includes New York City metro area, Austin, Chapel Hill, Los Angeles, Oakland, Orlando, Phoenix, Raleigh, San Diego, San Francisco and San Jose. The full total is in the picture above.
