How about kicking off your new year with a new BlackBerry PlayBook? After all, there’s never been a better time to buy one, with RIM slashing the price of its debut tablet to make it cheaper than ever before.
You can now purchase the 7-inch PlayBook — with 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB of storage — for $299 directly from RIM’s website until February 4. The Canadian company is hoping the fire sale will help shift its large stockpile of unsold tablets, which — like many of its rivals — are struggling at the hands of Apple’s popular iPad.
All stock is expected to ship within 7-14 business days, according to RIM’s website, and is expected to sell pretty quickly at that price. Especially the 64GB model, which has had a whopping $400 slashed off its price tag.
Those in the U.S. aren’t the only ones who can get their hands on cheap PlayBooks right now, either. The device has also been reduced in the U.K. following the holiday season, with retailers like Carphone Warehouse, Currys, Dixons, and PC World selling the device from just £169 (approx. $263).
Unlike the U.S. deal, however, the 32GB and 64GB models are still more expensive than their 16GB model counterpart here in Britain, selling for £199 (approx. $310) and £329 (approx. $513) respectively.
Will RIM’s latest sale persuade you to buy a PlayBook?
